Warrior Nation,

In this, my 16th year as a professional educator, I am most humbled and honored to serve as the Proud Principal of Sequoyah Middle School. As a third generation educator, I strongly believe that education is one of the most important tools that one can use to change the world.
Over the course of my life as a student and professional educator, I have seen first-hand the value of an education and the positive impact it can have on one’s life in the most influential way. I am also of the belief that every child deserves a champion. Every child deserves someone who believes in their ultimate potential and the power of human connection. At Sequoyah Middle, our goal is to educate and positively impact the total scholar so that they may go out into the world fully prepared to not only succeed, but also make a difference.
In my 16 years as a professional educator, I have served as a middle & high school grades teacher, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, Secondary Education Consultant and Principal. My professional qualifications include a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English and Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education both from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. I earned my Educational Leadership Certification from the University of West Georgia.  I have served in Clayton County Public Schools as a professional educator for 14 of my 16 years.
Our goals for the 2019-2020 school year are to:
  1. Provide rigorous and relevant learning opportunities for all scholars.
  2. Continue the implementation of best practices that create a positive culture & climate for all Sequoyah Middle School stakeholders.
  3. Forge ahead in deepening and advancing our commitment to high performance for all.
As I enter into my fourth year as Principal of Warrior Nation, I am focused on celebrating our successes, empowering our scholars to reach their ultimate potential, providing opportunities for all Warriors/stakeholders to learn, grow and achieve positive results together in all areas of the total school program, and partnering with all stakeholders to ensure our scholars’ success; as I know for certain that WE is greater than me.
I look forward to the work WE will do together as we deepen and advance our commitment to high performance and achieving EXCELLENCE in ALL we do. We Are Sequoyah. Home of the Warriors. Let’s go be great….on purpose! #SequoyahUnited
Best Regards,
M. Conner, Principal
Sequoyah Middle School
